Is it Game Over for

Human Jobs?

March 18, 2024

Last week, EA decided it was 'Game Over' for 23 employees at Respawn's Apex Legends team, wrapping it up in a neat 'strategic restructuring' bow. But insiders have come forward on socials painting a far darker picture: cherished devs, including one who's been there since the 'Ready Up' screen of Apex's launch, got the boot, replaced by AI's cold, calculating algorithms all in the name of profit, with EA's CEO dreaming of a 30% micro-transaction revenue boost.

These advancements in Generative AI are more dangerous to the job market than it might seem on the surface. It marks a shift towards dynamic roles being replaced by AI. Previously the AI functions in the job market were focused on roles that followed templates which are repetitive in nature, easy to follow and replicate, such as customer service. These advancements can now target dynamic roles.

As we inch closer to a fully immersive AI future, it's clear: the AI employee era is upon us, turning the job market into a real-life 'Battle Royale.' At this stage, it’s only a matter of time before we're approaching an AI inspired Fallout world, where all service roles will be replaced en mass with your very own Codsworth.
