I am a digital strategy, business development, marketing and ecommerce advisor for senior executives looking to improve digital reach, audience size and revenues. I have worked with all aspects of building digital/online presences and creating revenues from digital platforms, including the full development life cycle of websites, mobile applications, widgets, and social media sites/tools. I have also worked to incorporate and integrate digital programs with traditional venues inclduing television, radio and print.

A Few Achievements:

Sites:

  • Created a landing page process generating more than 1,000,000 opt-in newsletter sign ups in first year of operation and led to a substantial new revenue channel at up to 300% better than goal.

  • Developed a business plat that turned a seven figure cost center into a seven figure profit center in less than a year.

  • Developed five year business plan that lead revenues from 6MM to 16MM in < 2 years. In 6th year of implementation is estimated to be between 40-50MM.

  • Revamped an e-commerce program to include enhanced usability and process simplification, new lead generation tools, retention marketing and social media programs lead to 40% better than budget revenue gain in Q1 and Q2 -FY11

  • Negotiated and purchased several million dollars in online ad and radio campaigns andproduced and managed live advertainment programming ROIs exceeded 500% of targeted goals.

  • Brought to market the first mobile celebrity media content applications.

  • Created the most active online female fitness community and country music communities at shape.com and countryweekly.com.

  • Social Media strategy has helped a client to generate over 106,000 fans in 18 months.

  • Built an online radio station/podcast site that achieved more than 100,000 average monthly podcasts downloads in its first year of programming.

  • Designed multiple loyalty programs that have helped to cut the time to next sale by 200% and increase the value of each sale by at least 36%.
  • With SEO initiatives, key terms continue to be placed in top 1-3 page results on google, yahoo and bing for a variety of sites and segments...
    (search for skin care terms, or fitness terms like skin care products, anti aging skin care products, oily skin care products and fitness and you'll see some of the sites to the right).

 

I have lead or consulted on building the strategy, development, functions and usability enhancements for dozens of sites, mobile applications, widgets, and social media profiles. In the process I've utilized business models encompassing subscriptions, ecommerce, advertising, sponsorships and lobbying. Site functionality components included a variety of articles, newsletters/eBlast sign up processes, , applications (e.g. fitness/weight loss, scheduling appointments, horoscopes, fantasy games),widgets, podcasting, blogs and social networks.

Who I am not...

Will Ackerman - The Grammy winning founder of Windham Hill Records and a wonderful New Age Musician whose albums have been birthday presents for as long as I can remember because my friends think it's funny.

Will Ackerman - My doppelganger who was at another large magazine publisher as the Technical & Development Manager while I was at an other doing some of the same work. Pretty strange right? Two of the largest publishing companies in the world, each had their very own William Ackerman in the New Media divisions at the same time.
